What does my child actually need?
Day one
Gloves and hand wraps. Kids' gloves go by weight: 4 oz for roughly ages 4–8, 6 oz for roughly 8–12 — hand size and the coach's word beat age.
When sparring starts
Headgear and a mouthguard. For home practice, a kid-height freestanding bag builds confidence between classes. Protective gear must fit now: don't size up.
