Chest guards (hogu) are sized by the athlete's height. The guard should cover from collarbone to just below the belt line.

0 (XXS) — for the smallest athletes, under about 3′8″
1 (XS) — 3′8″–4′3″ · typically ages 5–7
2 (S) — 4′3″–4′9″ · typically ages 7–10
3 (M) — 4′9″–5′6″ · typically ages 10–14
4 (L) — 5′6″–6′2″ · teens & adults
5 (XL) — 6′2″–6′5″ · adults
