August is a strange month for martial arts families — summer nationals are done, school is starting back up, and the fall calendar is only just coming into focus.
Here's what's actually on it. USA Taekwondo closes its 2026 season with the U.S. Taekwondo Season Final, September 11–13 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Most young athletes won't be traveling to that one, and that's fine. The bigger news for Florida families is October: a World Taekwondo G1 event — international ranking points on the line — runs October 22–25 in Daytona Beach. G1 competition usually means a plane ticket, so having one a few hours' drive from most of the state is rare. And on the grappling side, the fall season starts sooner: the NAGA Jacksonville Grappling & BJJ Championship is set for August 29 at the University of North Florida Fieldhouse.
