Ask a coach what gets forgotten most in a young fighter's bag, and hand wraps come up almost every time.
They're inexpensive, they're easy to leave at home, and they protect the small bones and still-developing growth plates in a child's hand. A few things worth knowing: adult wraps are usually 180 inches, which is far too much material for small hands — junior wraps run about 108–120 inches. A cotton-nylon blend with a little stretch is easiest for kids to manage and wash. And the wrap itself doesn't need to be fancy: anchor at the wrist two or three times, cover the knuckles, secure the closure, then have them make a loose fist. If fingertips turn pale or tingly, it's too tight — redo it.
